Over the last few years, we’ve watched the red light therapy space grow — fast. We’ve seen the good, the bad, and the overhyped. We’ve worked with various devices, supported customers through their journeys, and picked up a lot along the way.

So when we say we’ve chosen to bring PHlow onboard — it’s because we truly believe it’s the next step forward.

The PHlow Ellipse 1050 is a red light therapy device designed for use on horses, humans, and pets. And while there are plenty of products on the market, PHlow stands out because of how it’s built, how it performs, and most importantly — how it feels to use.

What Makes PHlow Different?

This isn’t just another red light product with a fancy name. It’s the result of development, research, and refinement — a proper evolution, not a rebrand of something else.

At its core are 56 precision-engineered diodes, each fitted with 4 light sources. That’s 224 LEDs, using four carefully chosen wavelengths:
660nm, 850nm, 940nm, and 1050nm.

Each wavelength reaches a different depth — from the surface of the skin to deeper tissue layers. This is where PHlow leaves older tech behind: instead of relying on surface-level stimulation or a single wavelength, it delivers a combined therapeutic effect. This means it’s more adaptable, more thorough, and more targeted — all in one.

Ready When You Are

One of the things we love about PHlow? It’s ready to go. The Ellipse arrives fully charged in the box. There’s no fiddling with set-up, apps or confusing instructions. You can literally pick it up, switch it on, and get started.

Just make sure your horse (or dog/cat) is clean and dry, and always work directly on the coat or skin — no creams or sprays. Keep the light as close to the skin as possible to allow full penetration of the therapeutic wavelengths.

It’s Simple to Use — But Not Basic

• There’s no danger in overuse — the body naturally regulates what it needs
• Sessions typically last no more than 5 minutes per area
• You can use it pre-ride, post-ride, or on specific areas in recovery
• Your animal will often tell you when they’ve had enough — so listen
• And yes — it works on you, too

The light emitted is powerful, so never look directly into the LEDs and always shade your animal’s eyes if working on the head.

What Results to Expect

Red light therapy is not a one-size-fits-all magic wand. Some horses (and humans) feel a difference almost immediately — a shift in posture, an easier stretch, a soft sigh. Others take time. Chronic or complex issues may take longer to respond.

Our suggestion? Plan for 3 to 4 weeks of consistent use before comparing results. Keep a log or photos. You might be surprised by what changes over time.

More Than Just for Horses

The Ellipse was developed with horses in mind, but it’s incredibly effective on dogs, cats, and people, too. It’s built for shared use — no changes needed between species. Use it on your dog’s hips, your cat’s back, or your own aching shoulder. Just always clean it between users, and never use on pregnant or lactating animals or humans.

A few care notes:

• Never charge it in direct sunlight or a humid environment
• Store at room temperature — not in hot lorries or freezing tack rooms
• Wipe clean with a dry or lightly damp microfiber cloth
• Never clean while charging, and avoid flammable liquids
• If it’s damaged, don’t use it
• Dispose of batteries and electronics responsibly (see your country’s regulations)

Final Safety Notes

• Never shine the light directly into eyes (yours or your animal’s)
• Always consult your vet before using on tumours or if your animal is on medication for light sensitivity
• Red light therapy is not suitable for use on pregnant or lactating animals (or humans)
